Before coming to the U.S., I knew that some people spoke Spanish.
The fact is, there are so many Spanish speakers in New York and New Jersey!
For example, Union City in New Jersey is even called “Little Havana” because many people there are from Cuba.
Besides, I’ve always wanted to travel to South America, so learning Spanish will be very helpful for my future trips.

Lección 1 – Greetings and Numbers
In my first online Spanish class, I learned basic greetings and numbers.
It’s fun to finally understand what people say in daily conversations!
Greetings:
Hola — Hello
¿Cómo estás? — How are you?
Muy bien — Very good
¿Cómo te llamas? — What’s your name?
Me llamo Johnny — My name is Johnny
Adiós — Goodbye
Talking about phone numbers:
Mi número de teléfono es 0919-15XXXX — My phone number is 0919-15XXXX
Numbers (useful for time and price):
20 — veinte
30 — treinta
40 — cuarenta
50 — cincuenta
60 — sesenta
70 — setenta
80 — ochenta
90 — noventa
100 — cien
Example for time:
¿Qué hora es? — What time is it?
Son las tres y treinta y cinco — It’s 3:35
Example for price:
¿Cuánto cuesta? — How much is it?
Cincuenta y cinco dólares NT — 55 New Taiwan Dollars
Treinta euros — 30 euros
